Breeding & Building Molecules to Spy on Cells & Disease Processes-March 1

Presented by Dr. Roger Y. Tsien, 2008 Nobel Prize in Chemistry recipient for “the discovery and development of the green fluorescent protein, GFP.”  Dr. Tsien is a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator and Professor of Pharmacology and of Chemistry/Biochemistry at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Tsien’s lecture will focus on developing novel biological molecular probes with applications in diverse areas from fundamental studies of cellular structural biology to cancer treatment and fluorescence-guided surgery. The lecture will be held at Noon in the Emory WHSCAB Auditorium and is hosted by Emory University’s Department of Biochemistry.
