Funding Opportunities
Joint Winship Cancer Institute/ACTSI Translational Research Grant Program-Due June 30
To further promote the goals of Winship and the ACTSI, resources are being pooled to provide support projects related to biology, genomics, causation, prevention, detection, screening, imaging, treatment and/or cures for cancer. Outcomes required to achieve this goal include follow-on funding, inventions, patent applications, licenses and commercial products. At least one PI must be a member of Winship. The other PI must be permanent faculty in the professorial ranks (assistant, associate, or full) from Emory, MSM or GA Tech. Read more…

Development and Translation of Medical Technologies to Reduce Health Disparities-Due September 22
The Department of Health and Human Services has released a Funding Opportunity Announcement which encourages Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant applications from small business concerns (SBCs) that propose to develop and translate medical technologies aimed at reducing disparities in healthcare access and health outcomes. Responsive grant applications must involve a formal collaboration with a healthcare provider or other healthcare organization serving a health disparity population during Phase I and Phase II. The NIH Regional Seminars (NOT-OD-11-078) are intended for those new to the grants process, including sponsored project officers and departmental administrators, investigators, faculty, graduate students, etc. However, it is also an opportunity for those with more experience to obtain updates on grants policies and procedures. Vasculata 2011-July 26-29
Sponsored by the ACTSI and the North American Vascular Biology Organization, Vasculata® is a summer course/workshop that promotes the study of vascular biology. It is designed to present an overview of the field and future areas of active research. Individuals with little or no background in vascular biology are encouraged to attend, current trainees in the field and all interested individuals are invited to participate. Vasculata® 2011 will be held at Georgia Tech with Morehouse School of Medicine serving as the lead host institution in conjunction with Emory University School of Medicine. Read more…

GT:IPS combines a streamlined licensing program with organized support for faculty and student inventor-entrepreneurs. The program consists of two components: GT:IPS Facilitation and the GT:IPS License.
