Emory Genetics Metabolic Nutrition Program
The Clinical Interaction Network (CIN) of the ACTSI is pleased to announce the addition of a new clinical interaction site. The Emory Genetics Metabolic Nutrition Program (EGMNP) offers an array of bionutrition support resources appropriate for research. The EGMNP, under the leadership of Rani H. Singh, PhD, RD, LD, (rsingh@emory.edu or 404.778.8519) is a national leader in innovative nutrition management, clinical and translational research, and public health collaboratives for patients with inborn errors of metabolism. As part of the Department of Medical Genetics, the EGMNP provides complete services for the nutrition management of inborn errors of metabolism for residents of Georgia. These services include: inpatient and outpatient nutrition assessment and counseling; diet and formula instruction; computerized diet analysis; medical foods distribution center; metabolic food store; cooking classes; and age and diagnosis-based group education classes.
EGMNP's registered dietitians are experienced in research and provide clinical integration with the research team. Metabolic dietitians collect, analyze, and interpret participant diet and nutrient intake, body composition, and energy expenditure data; formulate specialized diet plans and counsel participants in diet plan implementation. The EGMNP research group includes a managing research dietitian, a research nurse coordinator, research coordinators, research assistants, and graduate students and includes a laboratory, software, and other resources specific to the study of nutrition and genetics.
