Biobanks: Introduction and Next Steps Conference
The conference, jointly organized by the European Science Foundation and the University of Barcelona, will take place on November 1-6, 2008 in Sant Feliu, Spain, under the chairmanship of Professor Alberto Orfao de Matos (University of Salamanca, Spain) and Professor Kurt Zatloukal (Medical University of Graz, Austria). The scope of the conference is wide, covering all aspects involved in the governance, management and use of human biobanks. Technical solutions, ethical, legal, and social aspects all form part of the program. The aim will be to provide participants with a broad overview of the existing models of biobanks, as well as the international initiatives on population-based and disease-oriented biobanks.

Young researchers are encouraged to participate, with a number of grants available to support their attendance. Abstract submission deadline is September 7, 2008. More information about the program, registration and abstract submission is available.
